A defense minister has revealed that the Ministry of Defence is actively examining the possible threats posed by Chinese cars, while personnel have been advised to avoid discussing classified information in all cars.

In a recent appearance on a radio station, a defence minister addressed claims that Ministry of Defence officials have been told not to discuss classified material while riding in China-made cars.
He stated that the MoD is “investigating” cars from China within its fleets, however noted that security is a concern in all contemporary cars.

The revelation comes as claims from Scandinavian countries have warned the UK to the existence of dual-use shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made electric buses, which could allow the Chinese government to switch off public transport and bring disruption to transport systems.
Additionally, a Russian intelligence vessel was reportedly shining lasers at Royal Air Force aircrew, labeled a “highly dangerous” action by defence officials.
